Armin Duddek, optometrist and CEO of the Zurich-basedcompany Prolens, loves the mountains and skiing and snowboarding on Gemsstock. Seven years ago, the head of the Swiss Snowsports School Andermatt offhandedly asked him whether he would like to work as a ski instructor. Today, Armin has his ski instructor’s licence – and an apartment in Andermatt.
From passion.To career
“I didn’t have to think about it very long,” says Armin, recalling the day when the head of the Swiss Snowsports School Andermatt stopped to chat with him and his group in the Alp-Hittä restaurant. “He said that we were all good skiers and asked whether we could imagine becoming ski instructors.” Armin took ski instructor courses and began giving lessons on weekends. Today he says: “I’ve turned my passion into a career in every respect.”

Life in Andermatt.Reinvigorating to the utmost
Armin now owns an apartment in the Wolf building and has switched his registered residence to Andermatt. He is a familiar face in the village and has an extensive network. “I like it here, surrounded by nature and the mountains. It’s like holiday. And when I'm back at the office on Monday, I’m completely reinvigorated,” he adds. In summer, Armin enjoys the challenge of the Andermatt Golf Course.
